High school students from ISS International School just had the last exam of 2015-2016 school year from 9th to 13th of May 2016. The grade 9 students had their last exam in the morning of May 13th. That afternoon they were introduced to the Personal Project that they are supposed to do in grade 10. After 2 hours of talking and doing activities related to Personal Project, the teachers surprised us with a water balloon volleyball match.
We were all divided fairly into 8 teams. The water balloon volleyball match took place at 2pm on the badminton courts located in block 5. Since we only have 2 courts, only 4 teams were allowed on the court at one time. All the team members had to hold onto the mat that is given to the team and they had to catch and throw the water balloons with that mat only. Some mats ripped and had holes in the middle or sides. The teams that had the ripped mats were disappointed because the water balloon kept dropping through these holes.
I interviewed the grade 9 students about the water balloon volleyball match. I interviewed Sue, a member from the winning team about her feelings during the match and after the match when the winners were announced. “I was so nervous, you know? I was so hyper during the match, When Mr. Bell announced that my team won, I was really happy. I felt like the happiest person in the world!” Sue replied, while jumping up and down with a big smile on her face.

All of the readers now know how a member from the winning team felt. Now it’s time to hear from the team that came last. “The holes were a big problem during the match. Even though the teachers taped them, they still ripped apart. I will just blame the loss of this game on the mat and not my team even though they suck.” said one of the members from the losing team, who was full of anger and disappointment, shown on her face.
“It was interesting because it was competitive.” Rishi, a student from grade 9.2
Despite all the sadness, anger and disappointments from the losing team, all of us had fun, including the teachers. “I thought it was a lot of fun. I think everyone was tired after exam week and we need to relax.” said Mrs. Loughman, a homeroom teacher of class 9.2.
This is a really cool way to end a very stressful week for all of us. Personal Project is still coming our way and we will still be stressed for next few months. The stress never goes away forever. It will come back… very soon.
